Collections Management Policies

Mission Statement:
Saham Heritage aims to preserve information from the past and contemporary village life for the benefit of it’s occupants and any others interested in our local history. We do this through the collection, preservation, research, recording and presentation of any historical data related to the history of the parish of Saham Toney.

Collection Statement:
We collect any historical data related to the history of the parish of Saham Toney which may include original documents, copies of documents, books, objects, digital copies of documents and digital photos. The geographical area for which we collect these items pertain only to the parish of Saham Toney.

Access Statement:
The Heritage physical archives are stored at the Wells Cole Community Centre in a small meeting room. Only the archivist and archivist emeritus are able to access these archives as well as those stored digitally on behalf of the community. Enquiries for the community archivist can be accessed through the monthly Saga magazine where one can find the Heritage email address.

Preservation Statement:
The physical archives are stored within locked cabinets within a small meeting room also locked within the Wells Cole Community Centre. The centre is also securely locked and only open to those with access to the entire centre. Only the archivist holds keys to the locked cabinets. Whilst the archivist holds a key to the small meeting room, the manager of the community centre also holds a key to this room as well as the janitor. Upon completion of accessing the physical archives, the archivist ensures that the cabinets and room are securely locked.
